Bee pollen is a super immunomodulator. All of its components are already prepared for absorption by cells. Personally, I don’t know of any synthetic product that contains a similar set of components. Pollen contains all the amino acids we need. It is much richer in vitamins than honey. And it is even richer in vitamins B1, B2, and E than fruits.
Pollen components
Pollen is multi-component. It contains more than two hundred substances. And if it is dried correctly (not above +40°C), its composition is as follows:
– carbohydrates under 40%. Of which sucrose accounts for only 4%. The rest is easily digestible grape sugar, fruit sugar, etc.;
– more than 30% proteins. Including a complete set of essential amino acids;
– 13% fats;
– less than 0.1% carotene (provitamin A). Protects the cells of the immune system from oxidation;
– almost 0.2% ascorbic acid. A multifaceted vitamin. Our interferon, for example, depends on it. And that means protection from pathogens;
– practically all the micro- and macroelements we need (under 4%);
– water-soluble vitamins B1, B6, B2. As well as nicotinic, folic, and pantothenic acids. Rutin, biotin. Vitamin-like carbocyclic sugar, inositol (B8). Vitamin D, which we need so much in winter. Vitamin E, which protects cell membranes from the same oxidation;
– Pollen contains a lot of oleanolic acid. A hepatoprotector with antiviral properties;
– And I can’t fail to mention phenolic compounds. In particular, quercetin, kaempferol, etc. They destroy the walls of harmful bacteria.
The benefits of pollen for humans
Since the 1950s, numerous experiments have been conducted. And most of them live up to expectations:
– Consumption of pollen reduces “bad cholesterol.” This suggests that pollen helps with atherosclerosis;
– A positive effect has been noted in chronic hepatitis. 30 g per day normalized the ratio of albumin and globulin in the blood serum. But the process took six months;
– And, of course, it reduces vitamin deficiency.
Contraindications
Bee pollen is not suitable for everyone. It is important to remember the contraindications:
First of all, there is antigenicity. If you are allergic to pollen proteins, then this product is not for you.
I would also not risk taking it if you have prostate adenoma.
Pollen should not be taken if you have gastritis or an ulcer with high acidity.
The problem of pollen storage
The main problem with pollen is its storage. Many experts believe that two-thirds of its beneficial substances are lost within a year. And within two years, they disappear completely.
Proteins, amino acids, and vitamins are the first to suffer from time. Therefore, it is better to renew pollen every season.
At room temperature, the content of ascorbic acid decreases by half in a year. However, proteins do not break down as quickly. Only 4% of them are lost.
Bees know this very well. That is why they renew their supplies every season.
Pollen should not be overheated during drying. And even more so, it should not become moldy due to moisture. In the first case, the product is simply useless. In the second, it is dangerous. No one has canceled Aspergillus yet.
